Come celebrate with the Marine Corps on our Nation's Birthday! A dual fireworks display is presented by Parris Island and the Town of Port Royal. Gates open at 5:00pm, and fireworks can be observed from the parade deck. MCRD Parris Island invites you to a traditional Independence Day Celebration. The Parris Island band will be performing patriotic music. We will have an incredible fireworks display! There will be FREE Cracker Jacks and giveaway items. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Jim ‘n Nick’s Bar-B-Q. Beer will also be available for purchase. We invite you to come celebrate our nation’s independence with those who continue to secure our freedom aboard Parris Island. MCRD Parris Island Peatross Parade Deck • Gates Open at 1700 (5:00 P.M.) • Parris Island Band performs at 1830 (6:30 P.M.) • Fireworks Start at Approximately 2115 (9:15 P.M.) No outside fireworks (including sparklers), coolers or pets will be allowed on base. From the Beaufort Tribune: Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island is scheduled to host its annual Independence Day event and fireworks display on Wednesday, July 4, at the Peatross Parade Deck from 6:30-10:00 p.m. The Fourth of July celebration is free and open to the general public. In 2011, more than 8,000 people attended Parris Island’s Fourth of July event. The Parris Island main gate is scheduled to open to traffic at 5:00 p.m. Visitors are required to have their driver’s license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance with them in order to enter the depot, and all vehicles are subject to search by military police. The Parris Island Marine Band is scheduled to perform a mix of patriotic to popular music from 6:30-9:15 p.m. Following the band’s performance, a fireworks display will start at approximately 9:15 p.m. and conclude by 10:00 p.m. The Parris Island Historical and Museum Society will also present a living history display with volunteers wearing period Marine Corps uniforms and exhibiting equipment from World War I through Vietnam. Visitors may bring blankets and lawn chairs for this event. No outside fireworks, including sparklers, pets or coolers, will be allowed at the event. Food and beverages, including beer, will be available for purchase. Following the event, both traffic lanes will be open only for outbound vehicles for approximately 30 minutes in order to reduce waiting times. Incoming traffic will be delayed, and drivers are advised to avoid coming onto Parris Island between 9:45 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. The Parris Island museum will also be open on Wednesday, July 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.
