JOB TITLE: Facilities and Ground Maintenance
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
JOB OVERVIEW:
The facilities and grounds maintenance staff member is responsible for keeping the school’s facilities and grounds in top condition. S/he maintains the school’s facilities and grounds to assure a safe, clean, attractive environment for students, staff and visitors. The facilities and grounds maintenance staff member reports directly to the Director of Operations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: His or her responsibilities include:
- Assists in maintaining school facilities and grounds in top condition.
- Promotes the safety, health and comfort of students and employees in school facilities and grounds.
- Maintains a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.
- Performs preventative maintenance, repair and installation in connection with: electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems; interior and exterior of facilities; school grounds; school buses and golf carts.
- Assists with monthly crisis drills (fire, earthquake, tornado, etc.).
- Moves equipment and materials within and between school facilities.
- Occasionally works outside of school hours when emergencies arise in order to prevent disruption of the school.
- Acts as the point of contact for outside contract work (HVAC, electricians, plumbers, mechanics, etc.).
- Maintains a current inventory of supplies (hand sanitizer, hand towels, toilet paper, cleaners, etc.). Orders and restocks these items as needed.
- Assists in setting up for on campus school events (plays, presentations, ceremonies, open houses, etc.).
- Reports needs for repairs or unsafe conditions.
- Performs general facilities and grounds cleanup, including picking up and removing paper, trash, trimmings and debris from grounds areas, parking lots, playgrounds, athletic fields, school buildings, and emptying waste receptacles.
- Ensures buses receive preventative maintenance as recommended and are in safe working order for school related uses.
- Models appropriate and ethical behavior.
- Provides for the safety and well-being of all students at all times.
- Adheres to all school health and safety policies.
- Maintains applicable employment requirements (licensing, training, etc.).
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
- Supports the school and its leadership.
