NORTH CHARLESTON — The Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina has awarded $685,000 to dozens of Black-led and Black-serving nonprofits as part of an effort to advance racial equity in the state.
CCF identified 37 groups to benefit from the $1 million Facebook Grant for Sustaining Black Communities, which supports innovation, creativity and resiliency.
The foundation, which serves nine counties along the state’s coast, noted how research shows nonprofits that work specifically in Black communities — particularly those groups led by African Americans — have been historically under-resourced by the nation’s philanthropy sect.
