About Us
WRHQ 105.3 FM was founded by Jerry Rogers in 1991. Before starting WRHQ (Thoroughbred Communications), Rogers, a New York native, first signed on with WSGA in Savannah, Georgia in 1969. The station’s direction changed in the 1980s, which influenced Mr. Rogers’ decision of creating his own station. Along with creating a successful station, being inducted into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame is one of his many accomplishments during his ownership of the “Q”. Flash forward, the station was then purchased by O.C. Welch III (Bradley Creek Broadcasting) in December of 2023. This would be Mr. Welch’s return to radio, as he previously owned WOCW 92.1 in the early 1990’s. After purchasing, Mr. Welch chose Larry Silbermann as the new general manager of the station. Although under new ownership and management, the spirit of the founder, Rogers, remains alive and the foundation remains the same. The “Q” stands behind its mission to provide quality rock music on the airwaves to the coastal empire. Also known as “The Bungalow”, WRHQ is the ONLY locally owned station in Savannah, Georgia. Being a local station, Q105.3 remains devoted to the local community and understands the importance of those local ties. We are a different kind of radio station, because we are powered by YOU! #KeepOnRockingInTheFreeWorld
