About the artist. Gail Archer returns for her sixth concert since 2003 given on the church’s Taylor & Boody organ. The international concert organist travels to about fifty concert venues a year, her travels each year include England, Poland, Germany, Hungary, France, the Low Countries, and Italy as well as locations across the United States. In addition, her busy schedule includes being a recording artist, choral conductor, and lecturer. Ms. Archer was the first American woman to play the complete works of Olivier Messiaen for the centennial of the composer’s birth in 2008; Time-Out New York recognized the Messiaen cycle as “Best of 2008” in classical music and opera. Her recordings include Franz Liszt, A Hungarian Rhapsody; Bach, The Transcendent Genius; An American Idyll; A Mystic in the Making on Meyer-Media; and The Orpheus of Amsterdam, Sweelinck and His Pupils on CALA Records, London. Ms. Archer is college organist at Vassar College and director of the music program at Barnard College, Columbia University, where she conducts the Barnard-Columbia Chorus. She serves as director of the artist and young organ artist recitals at historic Central Synagogue, New York City. |
Please join us for this fabulous organ concert this coming Friday, March 15 at Noon. Gail is one of the most confident organists I have ever had the honor to hear. Her playing is full of fire! You will not be disappointed! Come early and enjoy and tour of our historic church. Free parking is available in the church lot at the corner of Church and King Streets (entrance on King Street).
