Open Land and Trust - Pat Conroy 'The Green'

Join Best-selling author, Pat Conroy as he presents an entertaining lecture on the last undeveloped city block in historic downtown Beaufort, followed by a cocktail reception. All attendees will receive an original essay about this local landscape, which has inspired his novels. All proceeds will go toward the trust's effort to purchase "The Green" to preserve as a park. It is located in the residential Old Point area at King & Pinckney Streets. This park has remained open since 1711 and soldiers camped there during the Civil War. It has also been used in the filming of several movies including "The Big Chill". There will be an auction for an original 12 X 9 framed oil painting titled "Approaching The Green" by artist Pat Whitehead. Winner need not be present.
