The play is about the arts-in-education experience: a teaching artist gets a much-needed job teaching inner city kids to produce a play-within-a-play. Her struggle to put on a theater production is a lesson in valuing the arts and valuing educators. The play is narrated by the school's janitor, who's seen it all: holes in the roof, classroom chaos, student achievement.
