Description
A-Town Get Down is a public music festival to honor the memory of Alex Townsend, a junior at Savannah College of Art and Design who passed away in a car accident on Valentine’s Day 2010. In his name, Alex’s friends and family use the A-Town Get Down to celebrate his love of Savannah, music and the arts for hundreds of people each year.
In the spirit of celebrating the music and city that Townsend loved so much, A-Town Get Down will feature Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, humorist and actor, Loudon Wainwright III, his highly accomplished sister, Sloan Wainwright, ever-popular local hip-hop group, Word of Mouth, Walter Parks and Swamp Cabbage, Eric Culberson, The Savannah Children’s Choir, Savannah Arts Eclipse Band and more.
Live Art Exhibitions include ceramics, screen printing, painting and urban art, visiting stencil artist Peat Wollaeger, children's art activities and electronic artists in the Adobe Arts Loft, sponsored by Adobe.
All net proceeds will go to art scholarship funds.
